HSINCHU INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Feb. 2008-Present Youth Orchestra and Choir Music Director HIS Community Choir Elementary Music Instructor This full time position includes directorship of the Youth Orchestra, Youth Choir, Community Choir, as well as teaching elementary vocal music for grades one to six. As a liaison between both NHUE and HIS, I coordinate the Student Concert series and program all music events at the school. The main production of the spring semester was a concert involving the music of Mozart, Handel, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, and R. Murray Schafer, and our Winter Concert will be a Festival of Carols.
NATIONAL HSINCHU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION 2006, 2008 Lecturer, Permanent Part-time As a part time lecturer, I have taught courses in Baroque Music Appreciation, the Art of Performance, presently conduct the Brass Ensemble, and assist in conducting the Wind Ensemble, in which I perform as principle Euphonium. Last semester, in the Art of Performance, we focusing on stylistic considerations for Finlandia by Sibelius, Die Fledermaus Overture by J. Strauss, and the Tannhauser Overture by Wagner. In 2006, I gave a Master Class in brass performance, performed a solo recital for the students and faculty, and performed with the University Wind Ensemble. Repertoire included the Mozart Bassoon Concerto, Schafer’s Princess of the Stars aria, and the Raum Concerto Del Garda, as well as other selections.
NATIONAL HSINCHU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION Oct.07-Jan. 08 Guest Artist and Lecturer, Assistant Conductor, Wind Ensemble Brass Ensemble Conductor This four month residency included Brass Master Classes, private lessons in brass techniques, Brass and Wind ensemble conducting, an appearance as Guest Soloist with the Wind Ensemble, principle Euphonium with the Wind Ensemble, performances in local schools, and a full length recital at the end of the term. Repertoire included a selection of Canadian pieces such Raum’s The Legend of Heimdall, Concerto Del Garda, and Will There Be A Time?, and Sulek’s Sonata Vox Gabrielli.
CHENGDU MEISHI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, CHINA 2007 Head of Music Department Responsibilities included coordinating all instrumental and choral music education and performances for grades 1-12, as well as the instruction of theory, vocal technique, and music appreciation using the State of California curriculum. Extra duties included initiating a choral library, and laying the foundation for a Multicultural Wind Ensemble joining the Foreign and Chinese Divisions of the School together.
A TIKOKAN INTERGENERATIONAL CENTRE, ARTS AND ALTERNATIVES 2004-2007 Director, Atikokan Creations Theatre Program Coordinator Music Director, Atikokan Saxophone Ensemble Productions included three staged plays, and three staged musicals, as well as local concerts. Our repertoire included music by Mozart, Schubert, Sibelius, Prokofiev, and Gabrielli. Music Theater highlights included Jonah by Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, The Soldier’s Tale by Igor Stravinsky, and Beauty and the Beast by R. Murray Schafer.
L EARNING THROUGH THE ARTS, RCM 2005- 2007 Classroom Artist, Musician Responsibilities included traveling and teaching the core Ontario public school curriculum in over two dozen classrooms across northern Ontario. By incorporating music into other core subjects, students were able to learn, experience, and ultimately express their understanding of the material in a non-verbal manner. Students ranged in age from 5 to 15, areas included Greek History, Fractions, Astronomy, Language Arts and Physics to name a few.
HsINCHU AMERICAN SCHOOL 2006 Music Director, Senior/Junior Orchestras Music Instructor Responsibilities included coordinating all instrumental and choral music activities at the school such as auditions, repertoire, orchestral conducting, and so forth. The Music Instructor position required teaching vocal technique, music theory, as well as music appreciation and history to students age six to eighteen in both classroom and private settings.
ORCHESTRAS CANADA YOUTH ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL 2005 Assistant Conductor Duties included orchestra preparation of the Senior Youth Orchestra, instructing woodwind and brass sectionals, and overseeing orchestra warms ups and rehearsals. Highlights included the Rimsky-Korsakov Russian Easter Overture, and Finlandia by Sibelius.
MEDICINE HAT COLLEGE CONSERVATORY 2003-2004 MHCO, Music Director, Music Instructor Music Director responsibilities included conducting the Medicine Hat Community Orchestra, auditions, repertoire, advertising, and orchestra management. Music Instruction included Royal Conservatory of Music Theory and History courses, private instruction of all brass students, as well as coaching and performing with the Conservatory Brass Quintet, and Junior Brass Quintet. Orchestra highlights include Haydn’s Seven Last Words, Warlock’s Capriol Suite, and the Grieg Holberg Suite.
AMICI CHOIR, MEDICINE HAT 2003-2004 Music Director The Amici Choir was a semi-professional choir founded in 2003. Music Director responsibilities included directing all concerts and rehearsals, repertoire selection, season programming, and connecting with other performance arts groups for concerts in the area to produce exciting concerts. Highlights included Calme des Nuits by Saint- Saens, and several chorals by J.S. Bach.
THUNDER BAY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 2002-2003 Assistant Conductor, Interim Chorus Master Conductor Intern TBSO The TBSO is a thirty-three member professional orchestra based in northern Ontario, Canada. Duties included conducting concerts in the Family, Education and Cabaret series at home and on tour, preparation of the 60 member chorus for concerts, and concert programming. Concert highlights included a Russian Cabaret concert with music from the Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite, Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite, selections from Handel’s Messiah, as well as the world premier of Under the Moon with Aunt Birdie by composer Lise Vaugeois and playwright Eleanor Albanese.
ST.CLEMENTS PARISH ORCHESTRA 2000-2002 Music Director As Music Director, responsibilities included season programming, auditions, orchestra management, conducting all rehearsals and performances, as well as connecting with other local groups to produce joint concerts. Highlights included the Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Mozart Symphony #40 in G minor, and Beethoven Symphony #1.

Theatre Experience
Maritime Dinner Theatre 1995-1997 Musician/Actor/Server Performance in three summer productions. Duties included acting and performing theatre improvisation, singing, serving food and drinks, and playing music. Over three production runs, a total of over 16,000 audience members enjoyed our services.
Confederation Player Program 1993 Improvisation Role Playing Full time position acting as John A. Macdonald (the first Prime Minister of Canada), which included two scripted shows daily, improvisation, and entertaining at conferences throughout Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Volunteer Experience
Atikokan Intergenerational Center for Arts and Alternatives 2002 Chair of the Board This position was leading the non-profit Board of Directors in meetings to make decisions on policies, fundraising, and business plans. It included making presentations, writing grants to foundations, Internet research, and writing proposals to the board for amendments of the AICAA constitution.
